Hazen’s relationship with real estate started long before his first listing. Raised outside Columbus, Ohio, he spent summers immersed in the family business, learning the fundamentals from the inside out—shadowing showings, handling deposits, and taking on everything from plumbing fixes to electrical work. That early, hands-on education gave him what many agents never acquire: a true understanding of how a property is built, not just what it’s worth.
Those skills were tested and refined when Hazen and his spouse, Susan, purchased and meticulously restored a historic home in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn—and again when they took on a 200-year-old tavern on the outskirts of Delhi, in the heart of the Catskills. He doesn’t just admire the architectural character of this region’s homes; he has lived the process of uncovering, preserving, and enhancing it.
Before returning to real estate full time, Hazen built a uniquely diverse career that gives him a distinct advantage in marketing high-end Catskill properties. As Creative Director at R/GA—recognized by Ad Age as Agency of the Year for ten consecutive years—he helped some of the world’s most visible brands harness the power of the digital age. That background in visual storytelling, brand positioning, and digital strategy now informs how he brings each listing to market: targeting the right buyers, with the right narrative, through the right channels.
After relocating to the Catskills in 1997, Hazen and Susan fully embraced the region’s entrepreneurial spirit—building one of the largest alpaca herds in the Northeast and launching a boutique digital branding and marketing agency serving clients nationwide. They understand what it takes to create value from the ground up in this landscape, and Hazen brings that same level of care and discipline to every client relationship.
Together, Hazen and Susan co-founded the Catskill Country Living Team with a clear conviction: buyers and sellers of exceptional Catskill properties deserve an agent who shares their commitment to design, land, and intentional living.
